Hello, Green Your Lab community!
As the year 2023 comes to an end, we want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your amazing support and participation in our green lab initiatives. You are the reason why we do what we do, and we are so proud of the impact we have made together in reducing the environmental footprint of our research.
We have had a busy and exciting year, full of events, activities and collaborations. Here are some of the highlights:
-
We were invited to speak at several prestigious platforms, such as the Lab Manager Green Labs Digital Summit, the University of Duisburg-Essen Sustainability Series, the Junior JBM’s Sustainability Lecture Series and the 2023 Green Lab Work Conference. We shared our vision, best practices and tips on how to make your lab more sustainable and efficient.
-
We ran lots of fun and creative activities to engage our community and raise awareness about green lab issues. Some of them were the Green Your Lab Creative Challenge, where you submitted your innovative ideas on how to green your lab; the Go Green Trivia Contest, where you tested your knowledge on green lab facts and trivia; and the Green Lab Pro-tip Campaign, where we shared our practical advice on how to save energy, water and resources in your lab.
-
We also hosted our Green Talk Series, where we invited experts from different fields to talk about their green lab projects and research. We had the pleasure of hearing from Dr. Loïc Lannelongue from the University of Cambridge on the environmental impacts of computational science; Tom Sistermans from Mainz University on green parasitology; Dr. Saroj Saurya on green initiatives at Dunn School of Pathology; and Charlotte Houghton on Sustainable labs at University of Oxford. The Green Talk Series was a huge success, with hundreds of attendees from all over the world. In fact, it was so popular that it caused the conferencing software to crash!
We are very grateful for all your feedback, suggestions and contributions throughout the year. You have helped us grow and improve our green lab program, and we hope you have learned something new and useful along the way.
We look forward to continuing our green lab journey with you in 2024. We have many more exciting plans and projects in store for you, so stay tuned!
Thank you again for being part of our Green Your Lab community. We wish you a happy and green holiday season!
