Speaker: Tom Sistermans
Title: Green Parasitology: Protecting parasites and taking down other parasites
Location: Online talk

Bio: My name is Tom Sistermans, I’m originally from the Netherlands but I’m currently in the last year of my PhD in molecular evolutionary ecology in the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany. In my PhD I study the interaction between a cestode parasite and its ant host, specifically the molecular underpinnings of the phenotypic changes caused by parasite infection. On the side I’ve been a leading figure in our lab’s effort to decrease our shared ecological impact and trying to assemble my colleagues to take a more activist stance towards the problems facing our world today.
