About the role

The Laboratory Sustainability Officer will assist the Property Division with it’s Net Zero responsibilities and drive forward the sustainable laboratory agenda within Imperial. This is a people focused role backed up with broad technical knowledge to develop and drive forward a blue print for low energy sustainable laboratories. Through driving forward sustainable laboratory schemes you will play a key part in ensuring Imperial minimises the footprint of research going forward.

What you would be doing

As part of the Property Division you will be working across our key Faculties to assist in driving forward the Sustainability Laboratory agenda within Imperial Colleague. Your duties will include overseeing our Laboratory Sustainability Programme including LEAF and MyGreenLabs, developing a blue print for Sustainable Laboratories at Imperial and assisting to drive forward energy reduction in partnership with wider Engineering, Energy and Environment teams.

What we are looking for

  • Candidates with knowledge of laboratory and sustainable laboratory practices ideally within the HE sector
  • Knowledge of sustainability, particularly of energy reduction and the ability to bring together various disciplines
  • Experience of engineering solutions to laboratory sustainability issues, particularly in relation to ventilation
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to influence / engage others in sustainability
