Description: We have a vacancy in the Research Management & Innovation Directorate of King’s College London for the role of Sustainability Lead (Research).
King’s College London manages a variety of laboratories conducting world-class research across its campuses. With laboratory space consuming up to 10 times more energy than other types of research space, it is vital that we continually develop and adapt our strategies around sustainability and energy saving. Reporting to the Associate Director of Research Platforms, the post holder will have a leading role in identifying opportunities and implementing new initiatives for improved sustainability across the research operation at King’s.
The post holder will work closely with academics, researchers, and technical teams across the campuses to deliver solutions and change behaviours that will reduce energy consumption without compromising research data integrity or researcher productivity.
Collaboration and engagement from key stakeholders will be key to the success of the post. This is a brand-new post and the role holder will have a real opportunity to impact and shape sustainability of research at King’s.
The successful candidate will have work experience in a laboratory environment or similar and be able to demonstrate how they would identify opportunities for improved sustainability. They will have experience of setting up and managing projects and have an ability to demonstrate impact and provide success metrics.
This is a hybrid role (remote working / onsite working) and it is expected that the post holder may, at times, spend up to two days a week on campus in order to understand and relate their work to the day-to-day onsite research operations at King’s.
