Description: DID YOU KNOW THAT MORE THAN 2,000 PEOPLE IN BC HAVE RISKED JAIL TIME FOR TRYING TO TACKLE CLIMATE CHANGE?
Come and hear people’s stories about their prosecution for their participating in nonviolent protests advocating for a livable future. This year alone more than 2,000 climate protestors have been arrested, and dozens more sent to prison. These people, from diverse backgrounds, include indigenous families, mothers, teachers, grandparents, professors, and students.
Everyone is welcome. Address: Cominco Policy Room, SFU, Harbour Centre
515 W Hastings
Bill, a retired UBC professor who was sent to prison and is now under house arrest says “I tried all the conventional routes. I tried letter writing, petitions, marches, none of which worked. Carbon emissions have gone up by 90% in 30 years”
