Description: The Netherlands is world-renowned for its thriving cycling culture — from bustling bike lanes to calm, people-friendly streets. But how did it get there, and what can other cities learn? In this talk, Chris Bruntlett will uncover the key principles behind the Dutch approach to cycling and urban design, and show how these lessons are being adapted globally — including in Vienna, where the Dutch Cycling Embassy helped transforming the Argentinierstrasse into a cycle street (https://www.wien.gv.at/wieden/argentinierstrasse). As a passionate advocate for livable cities, Chris has written several books like Building the Cycling City and Curbing Traffic , and will explain how cycling healthier, more vibrant, and more sustainable university campuses and cities.
