Promoting a Sustainable Lab Environment with Ductless Fume Hoods

Traditional ducted fume hoods are among the most energy-intensive components of laboratory environments, requiring high airflow that results in significant energy waste and increased carbon emissions. This webinar explores how ductless fume hoods offer a sustainable alternative by leveraging advanced filtration technologies, including advanced activated carbon filters and high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters, to safely contain and eliminate hazardous contaminants without the need for extensive HVAC infrastructure.

Ductless fume hoods enhance laboratory sustainability by reducing ventilation make-up air requirements, lowering chemical consumption, and improving researcher comfort by minimizing turbulences and laboratory DBAs. Additionally, they increase spatial efficiency by reducing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) demands, allowing for more flexible lab layouts. Studies show they can reduce a lab’s carbon footprint by over 20,000 lbs. of CO₂ per year.
