Why attend?
Climate change is having far-reaching consequences for planetary health, including within the United Kingdom, and is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest risks to global population health. Additionally, the integrity of our environment is threatened by air pollution, excessive plastic use, chemical pollution, water scarcity, soil degradation, deforestation, and biodiversity loss.
While healthcare organizations work to improve the health of populations, their daily operations contribute to climate change and environmental degradation. The NHS is responsible for more than a third of all public sector carbon emissions; operating theatres contribute to this by consuming four to six times the energy of other hospital areas and the high use of carbon-intense medical equipment and supplies.
