Freeze our fly waste in the -70 freezer for two days instead of autoclaving it.

Unplug all vials and wash the plugs so they can be reused.

Reuse the plastic plates (from fruit juice agar plates), Some labs have never bought new plates, they just keep reusing the ones they have.
Method from Erhardt Lab at Heidelberg University:
- Freezing the plates
- Discarding the agar
- Washing the plates with regular soap.
Method from the University of Oxford:
- Take off agar-juice jelly
- Sumberge the plates in 75% ethanol for 20-30 minutes. Cover the ethanol and the ethanol bath can be used for a full week before replacing.
- Wash in distilled water
- Dry at room temperature and use again.
