Location: Online
Description: Sustainable laboratory practices are essential for reducing environmental impact while maintaining research excellence. This talk highlights a practical green lab journey, featuring strategies to improve efficiency, recycle waste, and foster a culture of sustainability.
It will also explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can accelerate these efforts by optimizing equipment use, improving inventory management, identifying inefficiencies through data-driven insights, and supporting the training of lab members and researchers to conduct experiments more efficiently. Furthermore, AI can lower laboratory expenses by enabling smarter purchasing practices, reducing excess inventory, and promoting the selection of sustainable and cost-effective materials. In parallel, the session addresses key challenges at the intersection of AI and sustainability, including energy demands of computing, data management, and ethical considerations.
