Laboratories use a huge amount of water, energy and other resources: freezers use as much energy as a single-family house and in 2014, about 5.5 million tons of plastic waste were produced in research laboratories all over the world. On the other side, there seems to be little room for maneuver: methods are established and there’s no alternative for many single-use plastics. But if you look closer into your routines, operations and methods, there are ways to change. The EcomappingTM- Method is a way to examine your labs sustainability impact and to find specific measures to improve your sustainability performance.

Thanks for the invitation to the IMB Green team. I am looking forward to present the Ecomapping-method as a general approach to improve lab work. And I am especially happy to exchange and discuss with the audience about ways to come to a greener lab - as we can only move forward together and in a mutual exchange.
