# Future Directions of Sustainability in Chemical Manufacturing

**Description:** Chemical manufacturing traditionally uses energy intensive processes and feedstocks and produces products that are not easily recyclable or reusable. Incorporating sustainable practices into the many areas of chemical manufacturing will be vital for the chemical industry as sustainability becomes more valuable to consumers and resources become more limited. The manufacturing of commodity chemicals, specialty chemicals, and polymers all have their own unique challenges and opportunities when attempting to decrease energy and material waste. Future directions may include rethinking industrial processes, improving the efficiency in manufacturing processes themselves, or producing more sustainable materials and products. This webinar, hosted by the Chemical Sciences Roundtable, will explore future directions for increased sustainability in chemical manufacturing, followed by discussion with the community.
