**Description:** At Boston Children’s Hospital, sustainability in research has evolved from a series of small pilot projects into a system-wide approach to operational excellence.

This session will explore how integrating sustainability into research operations can improve laboratory performance, reduce risk, and drive measurable cost and energy savings—without adding burden to scientists. Through real-world examples, including cold storage optimization, lab plastics recycling, and behavior-driven initiatives, attendees will see how practical changes can deliver both environmental and operational impact.

The talk will highlight how culture change—not just technology—has been the key driver of success, with engagement strategies that empower researchers, build ownership, and scale across departments.
